NFL Week 5 Recap:

Week 4 we were 18-10 against the spread…week 5 we went 13-14-1 forced against the spread.  The King moves to 31-10 in outright games (7-1 week 5) and 40-42 forced against the spread (after going 8-8 week 5).  For the teams, The King was 5-3, but also went 3-5 in the forced over/unders…if you only listened to what he said to do…he went 7-5 (58%).  8-Ball moves to 22-12 in outright games (after going 4-2 week 5) and moves to 26-35-1 forced against the spreads (5-6-1 week 5).  The Bengals, Colts and Dolphins’ games all went wrong according to predictions and the Dallas and Jaguars game that went right were not enough to offset those 3 missed games.  Without further ado, here is the recap:

The King:

Bengals 17 @ Ravens 14:  A shocker for The King who was 8-0 against the spreads with Baltimore…until Benson made a ridicule out of the Raven’s D in Baltimore.  Missed everything here except the Bengals scoring 17 points…did not think this would be enough for them to win…The Bengals move to 3-0 on the road…wow.  Rice had a decent day as prognosticated and so did Henry and Ochocinco who had decent games.  Blew it on Flacco and his wide receivers as well as McGahee.

Buccs 14 @ Eagles 33:  Called it 30-10 and it went 33-14…just enough to miss on the forced under I had…said to stay away from the Over/Under…good call here…did not think that the Eagles would need 2 weeks to prepare for this team…It was definitely a surprise what Winslow and Maclin both did in this game…Outside of McNabb and Johnson, the rest missed the mark.

Browns 6 @ Bills 3:  I called the Browns for their first win…just wasn’t expecting the Browns to miss Edwards that much!  Kidding, of course but 2 passing completions for Cleveland.  These both are bad teams!  Thought they would score some in this game…didn’t expect Lewis to play.  Called bad games for Edwards, Owens and Evans…they did what was expected.

Steelers 28 @ Lions 20:  I thought the Lions would put up a fight…didn’t think that they would keep it within the spread though…went over as called.  The Lions are getting better.  Called the Steelers pretty well outside of Miller catching a td versus Holmes.  Ward and Wallace both scored as predicted and Big Ben was called for 290/3/1 and he went 277/3/1.  Once Calvin went down, along with Stafford sitting, this blew my projections for the Lions out of the water…

Redskins 17 @ Panthers 20:  Called the Panther win and they missed covering by .5 point.  Nailed the under though!  They have a pretty favorable schedule coming up…watch their lines closely.  Called Portis for a touch, he nabbed an extra one in the air…I did not see Cooley getting shut out, but an injury forced him to stay in and block…Santana Moss went 4/44 and I called him to go 3/44…thought Steve Smith would snag a touch, he missed on this…all in all decent prognostication…just missed by .5 points!

Cowboys 26 @ Chiefs 20:  Nailed this one on all accounts…the Boyz won the game, the Chiefs covered the spread and the game went over…called it 24-20 and it was 26-20…can’t get much closer than that!  Miles Austin was not surprising that he had a good day to The King, but 10 for 250 and 2 scores…now that is a pleasant surprise for the Boyz…Called Bowe for 6/97/1 and he went 5/74/1…missed on a Wade td, but pretty much nailed the output of Ryan, Bradley, Charles and LJ…called Cassel for 244/2/- and he went 253/2/-.  Called Romo for 265/3/1 and he went 351/2/-…

Raiders 7 @ Giants 44:  The King fell victim to the Over/Under…The Raiders scored 7 instead of the predicted 6…but the Giants poured it on even more than I could have imagined…even though I told you to avoid the over/under The King registers a loss in the forced over/under column.    Had Bradshaw for a decent day, but he went absolutely off in this one!  The Raidas did not do much, as expected.

Vikings 38 @ Rams 10:  The King told you to avoid the Over/Under….it went over causing The King a loss in the over under column but a win in the team spread column…the Rams scored 10 as predicted….the Vikings poured it on for 38 versus my predicted 28…Called Favre for 222/1/- and he went 232/1/1…All Day scored 2 touches as predicted but fell short by 90 yards…Chester scored a touchdown as predicted, but he also missed by 3 catches and 40 total yards.  Called a punt return touchdown for the Viking D, it was actually a fumble return...

8-Ball:

Falcons 45 @ 9’ers 10:  Nailed the money line with this game but was surprised at the total domination by the Falcons.  Told you to stay away from the over/under but missed the total if forced to make the call.  Was right on the call that White would have his breakout game but did not think it would be 200 + yards and multiple td's.  Nailed a poor game from Hill and a td for Coffee as well as a decent day from Gonzo minus the TD.  Missed on Turner as I had him for 65 yards and 0 tds.  Mentioned on the podcast that I would be targeting him after this week for a trade but apparently was a week behind.  Called Davis for 4/45/1 and he finished 5/51/0.  Overall, very happy with the game call and the money line play!

Texans 21 @ Cards 28:  Nailed the Cards and the Over as you were told to parlay this one!  Made a bold prediction that Fitz would lead all receivers in scoring this week and he did not disappoint with 5/79/2.  Called Warner for 305 and 3 tds and he finished with 302 and 2tds.  Nailed the receptions and td for Hightower but failed by 53 yards on his rushing total.  Called Andre for 7/110/1 and he finished 8/101/2.  Called a poor game for Slaton and he finished with less than 40 yards rushing but did catch 6 passes.

Pats 17 @ Broncos 20:  Boy did I screw the pooch on this one!  I thought the Pats would win and told you to avoid the over/under.  Forced against the spread went 1-1, but this was a bad play.  Did nail Orton for 2 tds and called marshall and welker as a strong plays, but really missed on Moss and Brady.  I was positive that they would reconnect again and again but they failed miserably.  Did project Royal to have 4 catches but did not expect 10!  Sorry for the piss poor job on this game and will strive to do better!

Jags 0 @ Hawks 41:  Nailed the Hawks on this one and made no call on the over/under due to no line being posted.  On the podcast I told you to play Burleson if Hasselback plays and Houshy if Wallace does.  Points out that you could play them both and get TDs!  Did not see Sims-Walker scratch but am sure many owners got nailed on that one.  Missed mark on MJD rushing totals and td but blowout took those opportunities away from him.  Due to blowout Jones had to split time with James which brought his numbers down.  Projected a poor day for Garrard and he lived up to it.

Colts 31 @ Titans 9:  Told you this was the hardest game to call this week as I wasn’t really sure what Titans team would show up.  Called Manning for 300 (anyone could do that) but missed big night from Addai and Collie.  Missed mark on many Titans as I expected a much better effort.  Told you not to play the game but to play the over.  When forced against the spread went 0-2 on this mark.  Only bright call was for Wayne, Clark and Manning but missed mark elsewhere.

Jets 27 @ Dolphins 31:  Did not think that the “Wildcat” would be as effective against such a strong defense.  Thought this would be low scoring with the Jets D taking over…think again!  When you miss a game by 4 touchdowns in scoring…not a lot went right in the picks.
