Pre Season Waiver Wire Wonders (Updated 9/7):
Don't wait too long for these gems...by the time the games are played, it may be too late...
Pick 'Em Up
Chaz Schilens (Oakland - WR) -- He was injured in pre season, was starting to become the talk of camp. He is the real deal. He will not play week 1, but may play week 2. Even if he doesn't play week 2, he is worthy of a roster spot. He will contribute this year in a big way and will become a staple in many a Fantasy Football line-up this year. Great flex option and the only one in the receiving game in Oakland. Someone in your league will own him soon...
Mike Sims-Walker (Jax - WR) -- He was on pace for a heck of a camp, until injured. Now is back and will be the talk of 2009, when he finally demonstrates those mad "Brandon Marshall-type" skills. It is worth taking a shot on this guy...he can flat out play and could be the next Jimmy Smith for the Jags.
Jermichael Finley (Green Bay - TE) -- Another gamer and quickly becoming a favorite target for Rodgers. Let's face it, there should be plenty of balls to go around in Green Bay and Driver ain't getting any younger. Finley is very worthy of a back up TE spot on your roster and unless you have a top 4 tight end, you have to have this cat on your team. Week 2 will be too late...Grab him now and feel fine starting him week 1.
Limas Sweed (Pitt - WR) -- Again, another vet (Ward) getting older and it is time for some fresh blood to make some sacrifices in the steel city. Sweed along with rookie Mike Wallace will make an impact this year. Pittsburgh is going to start showing some muscle in the air...I first take a shot at Sweed and if it ends up being the speedy Wallace, then I take a shot at him.
Mike Goodson (Car - RB) -- Stewart cannot stay healthy, Goodson is the real deal...runs like a deer. Definitely worthy of a roster spot in deeper leagues...he is on mine!
Keep an Eye On:
Jason Wright (Ari - RB) -- Gonna be the 3rd down back? You gotta figure there is going to be some holes to catch the ball and run through out of the backfield. Anyone on the field this often for this offense means there is some potential...keep an eye on this cat!
Bryant Johnson/Dennis Northcutt (Det - WR) -- The Lions are sure to be behind in a few games this year...Megatron is sure to be double covered. Johnson/Northcutt (whoever gets in the mix) is sure to be open.
Rashad Jennings (Jax - RB) -- Just in case the #2 back in FFL gets hurt...heck he already has...not a bad play here taking a rookie.
Pierre Garcon (Indy - WR) -- If he comes out and snags 4 or 5 balls week 1 against the Jags, no reason to wait...pull the trigger.
Garrett Wolfe (Chi - RB) -- With Kevin Jones going down for the year...the back up in Chicago is worth a lot, if Forte, the #3 Fantasy back goes down.
Kelley Washington (Bal - WR) -- Looks like he might contribute a bit...keep an eye on him and see what he does week 1.
Malcom Kelly (Was -- WR) -- Malcom who? Looks like he won a starting job. I know it is not saying much for this offense...but hey, you never know in Fantasy Football. The guy might do something. Rookie out of Oklahoma last year, was injured and didn't barely see the field. I am just saying to keep an eye on him.
