"Fantasy Football isn't just a game; it is pride, smack talking and being able to stick out your chest at your co-worker or boss, a best friend, a brother, an uncle or any other relative, foe, neighbor or know-it-all." -- Tod "FFLKING" Brooks

R U Ready For Some Fantasy Football?

June 14, 2009

Over twenty million Americans will participate in Fantasy Football this year.  For those of you who have missed out on smack talking with your friends, rooting against your favorite team’s player, driving 95 miles per hour home from church because you cannot remember if you started a kicker, becoming physically ill because you didn’t start Ronnie Brown when he scored four TDs week three against the Patriots, losing a week by .1 points (1 yard), then let me help you join in on the fun this year.

Whether you are in an established league or starting one this year, you have less than two months to prepare for the most important day of the year, The Draft.   No it is not too early to start talking Fantasy Football.  We have already had a grueling six months off!

In a few weeks you will have a choice of buying a few of the dozens FFL magazines.  My advice to you  – Don’t Do It!  Turn to FFLKING each week to keep current; those magazines are already outdated.  Need a Cheat Sheet?  No problem.  Check out my excel version that you can manipulate to dominate your draft.  The Cheat Sheet will be updated each week and designates rookies, 3rd year wide receivers, contract year players, sleepers, busts, and drafting tips.

If you have questions on establishing a league, about a player’s ranking or a comment, then send me an e-mail.

This year I will make my fourth appearance at the World Championship of Fantasy Football and will guide you through my journey.  There will be up to 1,200 teams competing for the $300,000 prize and the title.  For the experience of a Fantasy Football lifetime, you too can sign up and swim with the sharks by visiting wcoff.com (use code FFLKING to save).  Now, if you think you can just drop down $2,350 plus travel and show up and draft a good team in Vegas, you have a rude awakening.  Unlike your hometown or Yahoo!® league, no one in Vegas will take Brett Favre in the second round and no one will take Kellen Winslow before Jason Witten.  Bad draft picks in Vegas do not happen, period.

Whether you are competing for the top prize in Vegas or in your local league, the key to victory is in preparing for the draft and maximizing starting line-up production week in and week out during the season.  FFLKING.com should be your first stop in making that happen.  Look for my upcoming article on drafting strategies and “going young” with players like Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton, Kevin Smith, Deshaun Jackson and Roddy White and letting other managers draft the “old veterans” Torry Holt, Marvin Harrison, Hines Ward and Isaac Bruce.

A bold prediction:  The Lions will win more games than the Browns this year!
